We report an unusual case of inferior vena cava agenesis (IVCA) accompanied by right renal hypoplasia that was complicated with recurrent deep vein thrombosis. A 26-year-old man was referred to our institution because of painful swelling of the left lower leg. He had been taking anti-platelet agent (aspirin and clopidogrel) due to previous event of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) combined with IVCA and right renal hypoplasia of which diagnosis was made 7 years before. On admission, computed tomography showed relapse of DVT in both lower leg veins and left superficial femoral vein. With the initiation of anticoagulation treatment, his symptoms and leg edema were much improved. As far as we know, this is the first case report on DVT complicated with IVCA and right renal hypoplasia in Korea. We report this case with review of literatures.
